Tracey Emin loose figure paintings
Tracey Emin paints figures with swift mark making often using a brush and ink or paint. The works are energetic and feel very improvised. But then again, isn't all painting and drawing merely a series of micro improvisations as we covert visual experience into marks? I feel like she gives herself a limiting peramiter to work within - time. These works seem to made within a very brief time period.
Creative promt:
Choose a subject with not much thought or deliberation. Still life, tree, flower, person(s), photo etc.
Take a brush and ink/paint or charcoal/pen and draw for a set number of minutes. 2-5mins perhaps.
Work quickly and put the outcome out of sight for at least 24 hours.
Review the work ONLY after 24 hours has elapsed.
