Last minute post...for May's Brief

I was able to visit York in May and stumbled across an artist who is new to me - Harland Miller. Fantastic exhibition if you are able to see it - on til end of August 25 https://www.yorkartgallery.org.uk/exhibition/harland-miller-xxx/

Fascinating to learn about some of Harland Miller's process when painting - especially his use of light and colour. There was an opportunity to try out his process of layering cellophane letters on a light box to see how the colours interact

The artworks themselves were very striking and use text in a very interesting way. here are a few images of the gallery

Looks great. I've seen his book cover paintings, but never these large letter shape ones .. love them. very inspiring, i love the process of collage and simply moving things around till they hit that sweet spot. i like the layering also.
