Gelli Plate Printing

Printing using a gelli plate is an easy way to print at home without the use of a press or expensive equipment. I use a GELLI PLATE plate, SPEEDBALL soft rubber brayer/roller, and GOLDEN OPEN Acrylic Paints. I use normal A4 photocopy paper. No need for a printing press!

The thing I'm enjoying trying out are the OPEN acrylics. These are slow drying so can be blended easily and stay wet long enough to do a print and a ghost print. They are easy to clean with water and soap. You only need a small quantity of the OPEN acrylics which can be put straight onto the plate and mixed using the roller so there is no wasted paint.

There's lots of videos online about how to do it. Here's a link to GELLI PLATE website with more info etc https://www.gelliarts.com/

Previously I tried using the gelli plate with the materials I had which were normal acrylics and a hard roller but the paint had a tendency to dry too quickly and get stuck to the paper.

I'm learning about it by doing it! Having the right materials has been important for me as I usually just use what's to hand. In summary it's easy, fairly inexpensive to get set up with the basics, not messy, fun and I'd recommend it!
