Cathedrals - pattern and depiction
As we spoke about shapes and patterns and light in this evening's meeting, Chris mentioned the Albi Catherdral which is very beautiful and covered in pattern on the interior and quite amazing. This is another talk by Matthew Collings about his working process. This is a very long talk but well worth the effort to listen to as he speaks about music, rhythm, pattern, abstraction and depiction. All of which are relevant to his work. He references the play between depiction and pure pattern that can be found in the decoration of the interior of The Florence Baptistery as Chris pointed out to us about the Albi Cathedral.
The Florence Baptistery, also known as the Baptistery of Saint John is a religious building in Florence, Italy, and has the status of a minor basilica.

So much detail and pattern for the eyes to enjoy - great inspiration thank you
