I recognise the feelings you express here Ben. Depending on my mindset, I can look at one of the raw undecorated walls in my house or the wild plants growing in my garden and see either beauty or a DIY/domestic job waiting for me to rectify. I often see these things simultaneously in both ways. Seeing beauty is about the visual aspects without the notion of self-identity - the light, shapes, pattern, the suggested narrative etc. These photos are all well composed. To me, some seem to be about suggested narrative - the equipment of life and work for example. Some are more about the play of light and stillness or absence of movement. The kitchen sink one is interesting with the colour almost gone but not quite.

Theses are so beautiful. Where are they? You may have mentioned last night but can’t remember. It’s like they are paintings in progress being made by the weather/elements. It’s a reverse painting process - layers of paint being removed over time as opposed to added.

The colours and the way the shapes fit together is so art deco. Also reminds me of certain futurist paintings.

Love the new painting Ben, the textural handling of the paint in combo with the strong perspective lines hold the whole thing in tension - the tension between seeing it as an image with perspectival depth and seeing it as a pure texture on a 2d surface.
