Book recommendation
During the last Zoom I said I would share the titles of 2 books I read in December - they have a textile bias, but range over history and creative community activities worldwide. No illustrations, so I had to keep looking up artists and movements to see for myself. Makes so many connections that gave me light bulb moments:
Clare Hunter: “Threads of Life” and “Making Matters”
It was a different yet complementary read to at last seeing the Red Dress in Stroud, and hearing the prime mover and author of the book “The Red Dress” - explain that the sewers from around the world sewed their stories into the fabric. Not professionals, but gave a voice to the voiceless - and a tiny bit of extra income for their families.
