Up-scaling to A1
Challenge to up-scale accepted. These are two A1 sized collages approx 60cm x 85cm. The cut papers are a mixture of a drawing made in pastel, two monoprints and a sheet painted with green acrylic and a sheet painted with yellow acrylic. I set out to make a piece that was aligned with Lee Krasner's large scale expressive cut collages.
I wanted to develop ideas on from my last collage. With minimal planning I worked quickly cutting pieces roughly. I intuitively glued pieces down as I went. Overall I'm happy with it. Really similar process to the collages I make on a grid format but this differs in terms of the pace I worked and the way I cut the paper.
Re-using materials and my own work to make new work is something I do a lot. Reading up about Krasner's collages has highlighted that they are thought of as being partly autobiographical and an exploration of her past work and personal history through destruction and re-creation. Interesting stuff.

Your other pieces were concentrated on in the webinar - but this is a lovely piece as well, the patterns and colours fit perfectly together especially as you stuck them down as you went along..... & the is grey clever.
