How is everyone getting on?
I usually take photos as reference material so I decided to use this month's brief as an opportunity to try something different. I have never been taught at any length about how to use watercolour properly. Rather these sketches are a quick observational sketch with some colour added afterwards. They are quite quick to do out in our small town garden.
The sketches are displayed in the order I did them. The overly fussy ones (e.g. 2nd sketch of bright yellow pansy) I like the least. The ones I am most interested in are the ones with minimal colour added (e.g. 3rd and 5th ones) and I am very drawn to the 8th one (see below)
I like that fact that the little flowers are actually white so I just left them as the white of the paper. It reminds me of a printed image - not sure if that's the direction I might go in. But for now I think I'll just keep making a few more of these this week and see what happens.
They are all delicious - especially the white one - and the way they are laid out makes them special
