More oil pastels
I see that just like me, someone else had a set of oil pastels for Christmas! This is my first attempt with mine. A transcription of Derain's portrait of Matisse from the brief. I shall have to continue to learn how best to use them...

Yeah. I've noticed that. I like how they produce a nice light texture when applied on their side, but one can also get a sturdier mark by using them in end-first. The blending thing is going to take more practice for me. I think I was applying to heavily before blending which was making too much of a mess. It looks like you've used a gentler hand which has produced a more pleasing effect.
