Progress so far with February brief

Attending Dan and Sharon's printmaking workshop kickstarted my gelliplate printing again and I've tested out printing directly onto postcards. Results weren't quite what I wanted but I learned lots from testing it out. Here are two tests:

What came from the writing exercise was that right now I really want to get organised and start producing work regularly. So, I have been tidying my physical space and adding ideas to my sketchbook.

I’ve also started to organise my artwork into categories of things to focus on for example. i. Learning about other artists and their work, ii. Learning and practicing a skill/process e.g. collage, and iii. Doing a series of works about endangered species e.g. the skylark.

I have started to use a sketchbook again which I am really enjoying as a way to really capture my thoughts, interests and ideas. And I have set myself some goals for 2025 and started on these looking at what I want to be doing this month, this week, this day etc.

I loved the article Dan posted about contemporary drawing. The artist that drew my attention was Anni Albers (1899-1994) who inspired me to keep going because she shifted her focus to printmaking and drawing at the age of 64! (so there's still time for me yet ha ha!!!)

🤣 ha ha! If only it were that simple! I am making slow but some progress here with organising things. But I think the structure will help me to do more and think less - as in get out of thoughts stuck in my head
