Previous meeting
In the previous meeting I talked about an exhibition in France (that I had seen about & sent my parents along to have a look) of pictures of water in the Pyrenes. I wish it had been on when I was there. I think nature needed a little assistance to get the pictures but they look wonderful.
Here's an extract translated from the paper...
At the Maison de la Citoyenneté in Saint-Girons, the exhibition "Water and Light in Couserans" presents the photographic work of Brigitte Fort, the result of three years of exploring the waterways of Ariège. A sensitive and artistic tribute to the fragile beauty of the local rivers.
The opening of the exhibition "Water and Light in Couserans" organized by the cultural service of the town hall of Saint-Girons and the Maison de la Citoyenneté, will take place on Friday, September 5 from 5:30 p.m.
This exhibition is the result of three years of patient exploration, during which Brigitte Fort traveled the rivers and torrents of the Couserans – the Garbet, the Salat, the Lez, the Estours, the Riberot, the Arize and the Alet – to reveal their secret beauty to us. It is at the Maison de la Citoyenneté that the artist invites us to immerse ourselves in a universe where water is not a resource, but a source of inspiration. Each photograph invites us to take a fresh look at an element which, as Brigitte says, is "life itself."
Images that represent a technical and artistic feat
Camera in hand, Brigitte Fort immerses herself in the currents, anticipating the changing light and the violence of the currents to capture the elusive moment in which the spirit of the water is fleetingly revealed.
There's no trace of humans in the frame, only evidence of their attentive presence behind the lens. Brigitte Fort's work perhaps serves as a subtle reminder of the importance of protecting water from the impacts of human activity.
