Something new project ..jumping right in!

Delighted by the challenges of this new project. I paint on silk (not exclusively) and love the quality of this material and the vibrant colours that can be achieved using steam fixed dyes. I have chosen Josef Albers and Paul Klee as my artists to research as they so closely match my interests in abstraction, vibrant hues, geometric shapes and fluid lines as well as etheral qualities in art.

I have chosen Paul Klee's Step 1931 as insriration. Also, 'Colour, a workshop fpr artists and designers' and by David Hornung. Thoroughly recommend this book. Loads of great exercises which i intend to post here.

The piece of my own work that i have chosen " Gold Lines" is a painting on a silk scarf 45 cmsX 150 cms. I have tried to photograph so that you can see the qulaities of the silk. There is also a video. I am quite critical of it and see a great opprtunity to work on a smaller scale experimenting with particulat emphasis on the balance and justopositions of colour to see hwat impacts i can achieve.

To be continued .......

Hi Angela. It’s great to hear and see your enthusiasm for the brief. Really looking forward to seeing your work on this. Sharing progress and not just final output is so valuable I think. We can learn so much from each other through the process. Thanks for the book recommendation I’ll check it out. I can’t see the video either.
