A flower

On a walk, my daughters found this flower and marvelled at it. I then found this Poem in my research:
"The Sidewalk Crack Gardener" by Gwendolyn Brooks:
And I, too, see beauty here, tulips of summer, And will not play cynic to the city's rhyme.
I found this line from a poem. I can't find the original poem that this line is from and I had only a vague idea of who Gwendolyn Brooks was. I have found out that she is a hugely important black American poet and civil rights activist. The line may be the whole poem, I'm not sure. I think the 'cities rhyme' would be the structures and repeat patterns created by the city and its daily movements. The tulip must be growing out of the sidewalk and we are invited to not be the cynic. Here is a video I found about Gwendolyn Brooks
I'm very glad I found this, I'd like to look further into her work. I get the impression that her work is involved with the everydayness of life and how ordinary things are inseparable from bigger issues of society. I wonder if we could share our research I little this month. Maybe sharing poetry or music or video. I like to get inspiration from art forms outside the visual art niche I work in. P.S. This is a crocus, right?
Here is a video of the of the flower.

I saw another of those red road work barrier things today and I stopped and admired its beauty and thought of you Dareth!
