Back to the easel

Have been a bit overwhelmed in December. And not always in a good way. But I think finding my feet now. Or at least having some sense of where I might locate them. I felt able to get into the studio today by returning to my old faithful: the human form. I sometimes use online artistic poses for subjects. This is a charcoal pencil study for what I'm hoping will be a painting of the same pose I'll do tomorrow.

Sorry that things haven't been easy Ben and really great to hear that you are finding your way back.

I was listening to a podcast only today about how good it is to have a plan of what to do when you either have nothing to do or when you don't know what to do. It was about habits and how they can either be useful or not so useful, depending on whether it is a positive habit or a negative one.

Personally I take comfort in the familiar and if the human form is the thing that you return to when you don't know what to do, then you are more likely to find yourself on solid ground when all else feels unstable. I like your mark making here. I have a sense of her sitting in space. Looking forward to seeing where you take her next.
